I am a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, working with Spinal surgery
since 20 years.
I was graduated at University of Uppsala, Sweden in 1972 and gained
my speciality as an Orthopaedic
surgeon 1979 in University Hospital of Northern Sweden; went on
to complete a PhD in medical sciences in 1983 with the Thesis, “Experimental
fracture healing. I specialised in Spinal surgery and became the
Head Physician of the Spinal Department in 1990. In 1996 I was recruited
to the National University Hospital of Norway in Oslo. In 2002 I
and my family moved to Malaga in Spain to set up a private Spine
Clinic,though on Consultant basis I am still in clinical work in
Sweden and Norway.
In
my regular practice I have been responsible for scoliosis surgery,
fracture treatment, spinal tumours and metastases
as well as the development of microsurgical and minimal invasive
spinal surgery. I have operated over 5000 spinal cases.
Annually
I have seen and evaluated more than 1000 patients with spinal problems.
In my scientific work I have focused on multi disciplinary studies
of spinal pain problems. I have been a member of a large Swedish
multi center study of surgical treatment in chronic low back pain.
I am
a member of the Swedish Medical Society, the Norwegian Medical Society
and Colegio Oficial de Medicos Malaga, Spain.
